If, for any reason, you are unable to pick up your paintings, please let me know as ASAP, and make arrangements with me.  There is NO STORAGE at the library for unpicked up paintings.


NEWS for Members!!!
As you know, our 69th Annual Summer Exhibition is coming upon us.  The prospectus is coming in the mail this week and is already online!  Look to your right!!
In addition to $4,000 worth of cash awards, two NEW prizes will be offered:  
The CAS Exhibition Prize - 2 CAS Member Artists will be selected by our juror to join Karen Weisner (who was chosen from our Members Show) to be part of a special 3-person exhibition in the Green Room from November 1, 2018 - January 31, 2019 with a Reception T/B/A.  In the future, this will be an Annual Prize associated with each of our Member, Elected Member and Juried Shows.
The CAS Members Prize for Outstanding Work by a CAS Member.  Our Sponsors and Patrons prize will be combined this year to form this cash prize. 

****Please note, that if your membership is not current as of June 30 you will not be eligible to receive either of these prizes this year. Memberships paid at RECEIVING will not be considered eligible.

RECEIVING:  Monday, July 16    2-6 pm. No paintings accepted after 6pm.
JURYING:  Monday, July 16. 6 - 8:30 pm
NOTICE of SELECTION posted to the website: Tuesday, July 17. Mail notice will be sent  ONLY to those without computer access. WE will also attempt an e-mail notification.  Please make sure you confirm your e-mail address at Data Entry at Receiiving.
EXHIBITION OPENS: Tuesday, July 17th at 2 pm.
PICK-UP of Non-Selected work:  Thursday, July 19   During exhibition hours 2-7 pm
RECEPTION and AWARDS:  Sunday, July 22. 2-4pm
ART CRITIQUE with John Massimino:  Sunday, July 29. 2-4pm
PLEIN AIR PAINT OUT and SALE: Saturday, August 11. 9 am - 4 pm. Contact Joan Hammeal. 860-3669-3930
    Free for CAS Members; paint on the grounds and at Elliot Preserve; you may bring 4 additional works for display and sale
    Cashier and refreshments provided; no charge to CAS Members

CAS Announces 69th Annual Summer Exhibition Juror & Activities

Clinton Art Society is pleased to announce that the new director of the Florence Griswold Museum, Becky Beaulieu, Ph.D., will serve as the juror for our 69th Annual Summer Juried Exhibition.
She has been a museum professional for almost twenty years, with experience in civic museums, academic museums, and historic sites. Rebekah previously served as the Associate Director of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick, Maine and as the inaugural Executive Director of the Winchester Historical Society and the Sanborn House Historical and Cultural Center in Winchester, Massachusetts.  Rebekah is the author of Financial Fundamentals for Historic House Museums (Rowman & Littlefield, 2017), and previously served as the managing editor of Modern Intellectual History, a journal published by Cambridge University Press.  Rebekah holds a B.A. in American Studies and Art History from The George Washington University, an M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.A. in Arts Administration from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in American and New England Studies from Boston University. She has presented research at the meetings of organizations such as the Society of American City and Regional Planning, the Popular/American Culture Association, the College Art Association, and the National Council for Public History.  Rebekah is a board member of the New England Museum Association and active in the American Alliance of Museums as a certified Accreditation/MAP Peer Reviewer. She lives with her husband in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. 
We are thrilled to have her serve as our juror and look forward to an exciting exhibition.

Elected Artists may bring one piece no larger than 36" in any direction 
No Entry Fee. No Commission on Sales.

Congratulations to Karen Weisner!
Her pastel, "Beach Path Vista", was named Juror's Choice at our Member's Show.
Karen will receive a$100 and be part of a 3-artist small group exhibition
in the Green Room this Fall.

CAS Tribute Exhibition will come to a close on Thursday, February 1, 2018.  Six paintings were sold.  We are grateful to Arthur Howard and Cindy Kirmss Kuester for the loan of the paintings in the exhibition.  If you are interested in purchasing one of the paintings in the exhibition before it comes down, please contact Liz Egan at (860) 669-4487 or e-mail her at casclinton@gmail.com.
